Arabella Ramsay is the eponymous alluring character behind the Australian clothing label ‘Arabella Ramsay’. A girl whose creative spirit was nurtured as a child by her up bringing on a farm surrounded by endless inspiration from the land, animals and of course her family. It truly is a family affair with Arabella’s father Dougal Ramsay’s illustrations used as imaginative prints, her brother Tom a captivating photographer and her mother Nellie a sewing and quilting genius. More recently, Bells’ inspirations call even closer to home with a wedding followed by a honeymoon on the blissful Hawaiian Islands and a new daughter; precious ‘little sweetheart’ Marlowe.
Arabella escaped to Paris after graduating from RMIT textile design to gain a higher knowledge of the Fashion industry. She was so inspired when she returned home that she started her own fashion label in her bedroom. After demands far out numbered supplies for her coveted creations she opened her flagship boutique in 2006 on High Street Armadale. Arabella set the Australian Fashion industry a buzz when she participated in Fashion Parades such as Sydney’s Rosemount Fashion Week, L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival and Motorola Spring Fashion Week.
Arabella’s unique styling channels feminine soft woven fabrics with contrasting studded leather jackets and charming vintage aesthetics with bright clashing hues give a youthful edge which provides her collections with a strong sense of modern refinement. Each season Arabella’s fearless approach to design by her eclectic use of colour, texture and prints earns her cult adoration season after season.
RYDER by Arabella Ramsay
Arabella Ramsay's second line is designed to bring an affordable casual element to each season while holding true to Arabella's style of clashing patterns and colours, fun and flirty styling and that vintage bohemian feel. Ryder plays with textures such as denim and flannel creating effortless looks for everyday style.
Arabella gathered inspiration from her family as she so often does. A nostalgic flash back of a family adventure around the wide brown land, as a young girl with hopes and dreams in her heart, absent of all fear, gallivanting off into the distance of the Australian outback. Arabella transforms these memories into the first collection of the new and affectionately nicknamed the ‘little sister’ label; Ryder.
